Who we are

Summer Shakespeare Tauranga Trust (SSTT) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to bringing high-quality outdoor Shakespeare to Tauranga and the Western Bay. Each February, we gather actors, designers, musicians, and volunteers to transform the Te Puna Quarry Park amphitheatre into an unforgettable evening of theatre, celebrating our shared humanity through the words and enduring legacy of Shakespeare.

Our productions are more than performances. They provide opportunities for mentorship and growth. We actively support teens and young adults who are exploring the performing arts, offering a community-based platform where emerging artists work alongside experienced actors, directors, and technicians. SSTT nurtures confidence, resilience, teamwork, and creative expression & helping young performers grow not only as artists, but as people.

We believe theatre belongs to everyone. Through collaboration, education, and the magic of a live production under an open sky, SSTT invites our community to experience powerful storytelling, shared emotion, and meaningful connection.

We continue our work year-round: seeking new talent, building partnerships, and strengthening the performing arts in our region. SSTT collaborates with local theatre groups, performance spaces, and actively supports young performers involved in the SGCNZ National Shakespeare Festival.
